I realize you can increase autosave in wp-config however I had a fresh install of wpmu without plugins on a local machine. I'd left an edit-page admin open in the browser so autosave was just saving on its schedule.

I was doing some testing for xmlrpc and then when checking the logs I noticed admin-ajax.php was taking 3 and even 4 seconds to serve on my local machine. This is without plugins and with only 1 blog installed on my local machine.

You can increase autosave but if you have a bunch of users with idle browsers on an edit page even with all the autosave increased this all adds up.
