After hanging out here for about a month, I finally have my installation done and some initial customization of the site done.
I am posting today because I would like to get a feel for how the
site displays so far on different pc's, browsers, and resolutions.
I have tested on my own PC's using IE6, Foxfire, and Opera. While there is still quite a bit left to fix, I think you can get a general idea of the look I'm trying to achieve.

I do want to say, that while this is my first post, I have been visiting here for weeks almost daily. I would not have been able to get as much set up without the information I have found using the search feature. I have also been a bit timid about posting as I know this is mostly a "developer" designed software. I have been afraid to ask for help simply because I didn't want to look stupid. I have only had a computer for about 6 years, have never taken a formal computer class, unless the school of hard-knocks counts, and learn purely by reading, researching, and good old trial and error. I decided to try my hand at WordPressMU mainly because it did have a steaper learning curve and I enjoy a good challenge.

Thanks in advance for your time to look at the site and I appreciate all comments.

Lookin' good - you should be proud! :D And please don't worry about looking stupid - I think I manage it at least once a day.
(and all the official computer stuff I took is outdated and useless, so don't let the lack of formal instruction hold you back. Diging in and figuring it out for yourself is more valuable than anything.)

    andrea r,

Thanks for your kind words. This computer has taught me that you can teach an old dog new tricks, lol. I do know that by reading and researching any problems I have I remember the information for a longer period of time. I have thought of taking some classes at the local college but have yet to find the exact class I want, and most of them seem to be a part of a degree program. I have neither the time or inclination to return to school full time at my age.

I am pretty proud of myself for achieving what is done so far. There is still alot of tweaking to be done for the site and I am working on it daily.
