Multi Domain / Multi Sub-Domain (3 posts)

    Hello,

I am looking at installing WordPress MU, 2.9.2

but I have 15 domain names I want to use with this. in a nut shell, what I want done is the following:

    1) Person goes to domain1.com
    2) signs up, doing which he/she they need to pick a main domain, to go w/ the sub domain, ie. they can choose username.domain2.com or username.domain15.com.

Now if possible, I would like each of the 15 domain names to have there own open page, or at lease point to domain1.

Is this possible with wordpress mu? and if so, what do I need to make it work? I am running cpanel and figure I most likely will have to park the domain in domain1 control panel, or something of the sort..

Also how will I need to put the domain in on my server running cpanel?

Ive tried to get this up and running for a few days now, but I am starting to go nuts... I've add them as a park domain (and get nothing as a blank page), tried as a add on domain (and again nothing but a blank page), I've tried to editing /var/named mydomain.com.db, (for both) I am at a total lost now, and I do not know where to start.

    any help would be great

    thanks a ton!

they can choose username.domain2.com or username.domain15.com

This is standard functionality for two separate sub-domain installations of WPMU, one on each domain.

signs up, doing which he/she they need to pick a main domain, to go w/ the sub domain, ie. they can choose username.domain2.com or username.domain15.com.

You could do this by offering 15 different sign-up choices, each pointing to a different domain's installation.

This, of course, means the users won't be able to collaborate across installs on any blog, but it's not clear whether you need that. You seem to be describing separate systems.

Actually, the multi-site plugins do this.

the one extra plugin to get them to show up on the signup page needs to be picked, but yeah - functionality is there.
