Is there some way to upgrade this plugin without installing it in each theme??? 50 themes in use!

You only have one copy of the plugin on the server. When you update it, it gets updated for EVERY blog.

Got it . . . in nonWPMU installs I had put it in theme and now see that I don't HAVE to! There is a better place.

OK . . . so, I do the installation into the plug-ins folder and I get a message that I need to move the sample template files into the theme!

I've always ignored that message. Nothing affects my environment so far.
