Hi,
I would like to ask you for help. I have installed BuddyPress on
my WPMU and I am getting lots of error log, about 312MB
and cannot find the solution. I have turned off the blog #761 and it
stopped. I have checked whole database and repaired it, but the error persists. Then I tried to show MySql processes with the blog #761 turned on but it makes such big CPU resource that I am not able to check it. Just turn on/off the blog takes maybe 20 min. What can I do about this? How to fix this problem? Thanks for every idea.
What's the specific error in your logs that you're receiving? (That's a good habit to get into with including in your first post when asking for help on any platform.)
What's the url of the blog in question? (Ditto.)
Do you have any sort of caching in place?
Have you tried renaming the plugin subdirectories to see if that helps?
Did you look in the db at the tables for blog 761?
The error logs contain a lot of " WordPress database error MySQL server has gone away for query" XXX
so I found this:
http://robsnotebook.com/wordpress-mysql-gone-away
So, after a days of investigation of my server I think I found the solution. You won't believe this and it's really weird. The problem persisted because the blog author has active RSS widget and didn't submit the correct RSS feed, actually it was not a feed URL. After I deactived the widget, it seems to be working fine now. Unbelievable, for me of course... 300MB error log never seen before :O
Yeah, the RSS widget can do some strange things if you put the wrong feed in there. like the feed of the blog you're on.
glad you found it tho.
yep, there was a tag page of the current blog :)
