WordPress MU

I have followed all the steps in the upgrade manuals but I don’t get the ‘update network message’, ‘super admin menu’ and ‘tools->network menu’. I have downgraded to wpmu 2.9.2 several times, but upgrading to wp 3.0 (manually and automatically) never works. Does anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong?

Without you outlining the steps you took or the manuals you followed, it's hard to say where you went wrong.

And when you say it "never works" I am not sure what you mean.

The steps I took were as follows:

- I deactivated all plug-ins
- updated the site, deleted
- deleted the blogs.php
- updated the .htaccess file
- changed the wp-config.php
- logged in to the site

With never works, I mean that the super admin and network menu never appear. Tried to delete the wp-admin and wp-include directories another time, but both menus remain absent.

Manually or with the auto upgrade button?

The first time I tried it with the auto-upgrade button. When that didn't work properly, I restored the site to WPMU 2.9.2 and tried to upgrade manually (using cPanel's file manager) but the super admin and network menu never showed up.

Manually through cPanel? Must have been time-consuming.

And there may have been something missed.

Why not via ftp or ssh?

My provider has a very good file manager in cpanel. I can extract the zip and copy the files and dirs directly from there.

Just to be sure, I tried it through ssh as well, same result!
