...While Leaving Your Blog in the Root Directory

I want this for MU. Is there perchance, a plug-in for this and the other subblogs.

So the files stay in http://www.example.com/wordpress/

But the info can show up in say, http://www.example.com/

    or http://www.example.com/example/

and so on... I really need this feature.

    Thanks.

No, you can't. there's dozens of threads asking for the same thing, and the short answer is always no, because it interferes with the blog lookup process.

No plugin will help. No htaccess tricks.

You mean that people don't want to spend time coding for this, even if it's often in demand, because it would take time and effort that people don't want to put in, not that it is impossible.

No, I mean that the way the blogs are being looked up is the issue. It's not a coding issue, it's a functionality issue.

Believe me, people have tired. They've come close, but then the backend of each blog is inaccessible. The way the blogs work would need to be completely rewritten.

If it was a coding issue, then I'd say so.

People have been trying to do this for four years. And I don't been hobby coders - I mean the actual devs on the wordpress team. It is not possible without a rewrite.

If this is what you want, use something like wp-hive.
