WordPress MU

I have upgraded to WordPress 3.0 MU. While trying to upload photos, I cannot seem to use them. All I see is a red X.

I tried using NEXTGEN and can get photos that way, but would really rather be able to simple use the default WordPress uploader.

Any ideas as to what I may need to do? I am a novice at this, so please share in laymans terms . . .thanks
