New user+blog creation by an external application (7 posts)

I need to create new blogs in a WP MU system, but without going through the web interface. If I know the username/domain, password and e-mail address, what is the simplest way to create a new user+blog? From the code, wpmu_create_user() and wpmu_create_blog()in wpmu_functions.php perform these actions.
I tried to write an external script which includes all the necessary WP files, but there were too many dependencies and wasn't a good solution.
Since, WP will always create a predictable set of tables and entries in the database, I could mimic that in my script, which I am trying to do now. But, the eight new tables that are created in turn have 70-80 rows in them.

So, is there a cleaner interface that can be used to create accounts and blogs in WP MU? If not, any suggestions on the best way to do this?

    Thanks,
    Thejo

I too would love to know how to do this. I already have several hundred users, but not all of them would want a blog. I would like them to be able to simply click a button in their member area, and have the blog ready for them to use. This also saves of DB space. Can someone help?

I also want this to be possible. Therefore I took a look at this http://mu.wordpress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1826&replies=7

But I could not get it to work :( I want the same as mauldraine. The users can sign up (at the same time they will signed up at wpmu...but without a blog) When the user wants a blog....then he just have to click "Create blog"

I also asked for something like this here -> http://mu.wordpress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1975&replies=4

You'll probably hve to code it yourself, I'm afraid.

He's more likely to find someone here in this forum or on wp-hackers if he wants to pony up the dough.

I am also in need of a solution like this. Can we vote on feature requests? Or can we pitch in to get a developer to create an api?

I would think that there is one method call somewhere that just needs to be called with the correct params.
