Admin blog index page - While using home.php (21 posts)

I have home.php installed in main theme directory, which wipes out the index.php for the admin blog. I want to keep home.php for users to see "blog directory", "sign on" and other things that you can not do with index.php.
But from this page (home.php), I would like to link to the index page for the admin blog, which disappears.
I tried creating a new “home” page through the CP, but same problem, the index.php page disappears when you select *any* other page.
    Any ideas?

    TIA

Your adminblog is located at http://yousiteurl.net/blog/

That's the default behaviour of WP. If there's a home.php in the theme folder it will *always* show that instead of index.php.

On home.php, link to the archives of the main blog.

You should modify index.php so it has the same functionality as home.php
Should be a simple copy/paste job with html cleanup afterwards!

KKWangen: The admin blog is located http://admin_blog.domain.tld/users-blogs

donncha: How would I go about modifiing index.php to have the same functionality as home.php? Not sure what to copy and paste.

He means so they are identical. Then you could get rid of home.php and still have all the signup stuff.

Got it, thanks so much for the help. I will have to merge the two files. Thanks!

I've totally forgotten that I've removed the 404.php template to be able to have one homepage with all the info (using home.php) and then another 'page' that holds the admin blog itself located at your-wpmu-url/blog/

    My testsite:
    Home - http://area51.fwwhost.net/wpmu/
    Blog - http://area51.fwwhost.net/wpmu/blog/

This was the way I understood that you wanted your wpmu site to behave, but I might have missunderstood?

Yep, that's pretty much it, well I wanted both pages (home and blog) at root, but I understand why this can not happen.
How did you set up the admin blog in wpmu/blog?

The only thing I did on that testsite was to delete the 404.php template from the home theme.

I think he's releasing that theme soon. Also? The bits on the home.php page can be added somewhere to the index.php. It's just a couple of links, nothing special. Look at the code of the page, copy and paste it wherever. Then you could even get rid of the home.php page if you wanted.

Anyway, the basic theme I've made can read about in this thread:

I think the name is French in origin. It's not very common in North America. Not terribly rare either, just not used often.

    I pronounce it ANN-dree-ah.

Do u watch " Desire - Table for three " series that shows up on star world ?
