I was out the loop for about three weeks. Today, when I check download link and found V1.0 is available for download. My site currently runs on a nightly build of sometime in the middle of August. Is the V1.0 newer than the nightly build?

it is... you can update safely, the nightly you have is mostly the release.. :)
Nightly build is compiled every evening. 1.0 is from 10/10.
