Is there a way for users to just leave comments that are not for a specific post/page? Like on the main page of a blog, is there a way to just leave a comment and not have to click a post/page? Thanks!

well you could set your blog to display a static page as homepage and enable comments :-)
or maybe try one of those plugins that turn a certain page into a guestbook and set that page to display as the frontpage if thats what you are looking for
