Look for permissions. Most likely, the directory doesn't exist because MU couldn't create it.

    The permissions are good (777)
    There is a map

/usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/bloggersnet.nl/httpdocs/wp-content/blogs.dir/ <<=== from here it goes wrong

It seams that WP-MU not the files write in this map.
    How is this to fix?

are there directories inside the blog.dir directory? there should be directories inside there corresponding to the blog id.

did you change the name of the upload path or anything in the settings?

    I did nothing change.
I have download the WPmu and unpack and uploaded to my server.
I fil in the reguired fileds and it workt.

If I try to upload any image I have this error.
WP-MU did not write the files into the map.
The map wp-content/blogs.dir is stil empty.

Well i've the same problem and can't find out what the problem is. Here is my situation:

    Windows server 2003
    IIS 6.0
    PHP 5.26
    MySQL 5.1

The complete install went well except no directories are created in the directory blog.dir when I create a blog.

In the database are tables with the blog id. And i'm sure that there is no directory rights problem because "everyone" has full control on the whole wordpress mu directory.

Tried a new install and also tried it to use Apache but all with the same problem.

Please help i'm out of options!

"no directories are created in the directory blog.dir when I create a blog. "

They aren't. That's not where the blogs live. Directories under that folder are only created when a blog owner uploads files.

So what's the real issue you have? please start a new thread. :) Although I woudl suggest you search for windows/IIS as MU was meant to be run on Apache, and you'll need a paid add-on for IIS to do the mod-rewrite stuff.
