    Greets:

    Had a end user on one of my install question the use of the nextpage tag. I'm not familiar with it. Does it work with WPMu? I see a couple mentions about it in the trac and the forums but nothing that says it actually works.

    Someone care to clue me in please?

    Thanks,
    -drmike

    Two things...

    1) Welcome back :)

    2) This is the first time i've even heard of the nextpage tag.

    lol..how ironic, I was just looking for a way to use multiple pages.

    They do exist: http://www.urbangiraffe.com/2005/03/13/jumpto/ makes use of them.

    Glad to see you too. :)

    I think it works, no one has mentioned it on my install and I vaguely recall using it to check a user's blog.

    Just what the Dr. ordered...

    <?php wp_link_pages(); ?>

    luna that lists pages I believe. I have someone actually using <!--nextpage--> within her posts.

    I'm wondering if it's something new since I'm still on a November edition.

    It's mentioned in the wp.com forums a couple of times but nothing I can really point to.

    You are correct. The <!--nextpage--> tag allows you to break up a post into multiple pages. <?php wp_link_pages(); ?> is what ties them together. ;)

    Oh, and it's been in WP for quite a long time. :D

    It's not working for this user which is why the question has come up.

    Strange then, unless the function name or something has been updated.

    Then again, maybe it's a deprecated feature, at least in MU?

    // Add

    wp_link_pages()
    link_pages()

    They're still on the codex, so that is the right function.

    Heck, I spoke too soon. It's still in MU, the actual function is in post-template.php. For the record, link_pages() is in deprecated.php and just calls wp_link_pages.

    So I'm not sure what the deal is, unless it's modified/ignored/skipped later on down the road.

    OK, I see it in that file but I'm still at a loss. The user is using it correctly as far as I can tell within the Page that they write. <!--nextpage-->

    Is that usage correct?

    Is it used in Pages?

    Any ideas on why it wouldn't be working in this case?

    thanks,
    -drmike

    Not a clue Doc.

    It is used in pages, and posts AFAIK as well.

    So unless the page tag is filtered out somewhere, before link pages can process it, I'm at a loss at the moment on it.

    Let me try the upgrade tomorrow and see if that helps.

    I know it's suppose to work in wp.com land.

    I want to say that it used to be one of the buttons in the editor even, but it hasn't been there for awhile.

    Anyone got <!--nextpage--> to work with 2.0? It's not working for me even with <?php wp_link_pages(); ?>

    NM, I got it work by putting it straight into the code section.

    Well, 2.0 would be over at http://wordpress.org

    We're running Wordpress Multiuser here and that's at 1.1. :)
