WordPress MU

Hello there.
I am wondering how I can make wordpress µ work in my language.
I have tried some language files for the non-µ version but when I applied them everything went blank so I had to delete the file from my server.
Can I use the translation that has already been made or do I need to make a new one from scratch?

what plug-in did you try?

I managed to get the backend working, but not for the blog itself!
