Any way to generate a WP export XML dump from a raw database? (9 posts)

So Dreamhost screwed up my wildcarding support and now all of my previously-hosted blogs are simply redirecting to my MU setup instead of showing the actual WP instances. This means that I can't get in and export the data from the WP sites and move it into the MU ones that I've been trying to scrape together in order to get my users back on their feet.

Is there any way for me to generate the XML necessary to import the old blogs' content into the new MU analogs WITHOUT a live WP instance?

Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Are you able to export out a database backup? That's the only thing I can think of right off.

I can export the backup, but that doesn't buy me an XML file that WPMU can then import. Is there any way to massage that data into a form where I can import it into MU?

Add ther blog id's to the table names? Plus manually add the new blogs to user tables. That's all I can think of.

    but if you;re stuck....

(and if it works, take notes and write a tut. ;) )

I worked my way around this by using MAMP and a SQL dump to create an XML file that I was then able to import into my MU setup.

I have a damaged and old MU installation, can't access the panel.

Trying to export one blog and to import it with a clean installation.

Why not just do an export of that portion of the database like suggested up above?

I could do that, but how would be the recovery proccess?
import straight to the database would be enough?
