    Hello,

I have used other CMS systems for the past couple of months but wordpress is awesome as all other people say.

I have successfully installed wpmu but I don't know how to install themes and where to get the complete theme packs (if available)?

    Thanks :)

There are a few "theme packs" over at wpmudev.org. Best to go with the most recent.

You may want to flip through the subforum on the themes as some of them have been worked on and require some time to get to work on the WPMu platform.

    It is a start though.

    Installing a theme:
    - upload the theme's folder to wp-content/themes/
    - go to Site Admin -> themes. Find it on the list, click YES to enable it site-wide.

This is assuming you have a theme you know that will work already.

Didn't this just get answered (again) in the last day or two?

:-) been wondering the same thing but I noticed it depends on the general mood, sometimes they get the general, "go search" answer sometimes you ask a simple question, and get a hold-your-hand-walk-you-through kind of answer like this - what more could he ask for?

Guess it depends on the mood of the responder. ;)

I've been considering using my trademark "..." reply from another forum, so people at least know their post was read. :D

    found another example: http://mu.wordpress.org/forums/topic.php?id=3475&replies=6

the exact opposite of this hold-your-hand-walk-you-through kind of reply :-) funny though its the same people writing and even within a short time span

Exactly - I was in a generous mood.

    I like the "..." reply.

Ovidiu - depends on the tone of the post. :) Panic over simple things immediately sets my eyes to rolling.

regarding the "..." reply - I think its funny too but unfortunately its pushing the wrong posts to the top :-(
I dunno, maybe we should start reading the forums backwards as the wrong posts get pushed on top?

At least someone knows their thread was read.

Agreed but 1) It drops it from the noreply list 2) probably annoys the person asking the question since they're wanting a response and 3) probably causes confusion as well. I know I didn't have a clue as to what you were doing.

well, ok then, it seems I am the only one reading the forums by constantly keeping an eye on the latest posts on the frontpage, if this goes on I'll end up reading only ... posts as those will be the only ones on the frontpage :-) might have to digg deeper into the subforums to actually find worthwhile content...

Actually that's what I do. I start with the top and work my way down to the last thread answered by me. I do that over at wp.com as well. Works fairly well.

The only place I use the 'no replyes' option is over at wp.org

Thanks for the reply guys, I tried search but didn't find the answer, maybe I missed a link or something.

Anyway, I found a download link to complete widgeted-wpmu (using the search in this forum) theme packs but I don't know if it is best to use a standard wordpress theme for my clients?

Is it ok to put up a wpmu site and then use normal wordpress themes for individual blogs?

there is not much difference between "normal" themes and wpmu themes, you just have to take care, that no "old" themes with deprecated tags are being used, and you have to modify them to your needs, like stated in many posts in this forum, like modify footer, test functionality, change meta stuff, etc.
