WordPress MU

Hey, I am not quite sure what you would call this feature, probably a news ticker or something, but this is what I would like to know and if anyone can help me out, I would appreciate it.

Question: I would like to put some sought of news ticker, or whatever you would call it on my homepage of my website that continuely tell those who visit my site (1) the latest updated blogs (2) the newest registered blogs and (3) and list of all the blogs on the site........so that when someone goes to my homepage i.e. http://www.mydomain.com, they can see the three block tickers and as they keep changing, click on one that suit him/her and go straight to that blog.

I know this might sound stupid, but if anyone can help me with how I would do this using the wpmu stats or whatever, I would appreciate it.

For those who might say that this is already a topic, I tried to search 'newsticker', the only thing I could think of calling it and I didn't get any results, BUT if it is already a post, please just post the link then. Thanks =)

The code for "(1) the latest updated blogs (2) the newest registered blogs and (3) and list of all the blogs on the site" is all here in the forum. The search works for it.

Wouldn't even have to use that. Why not just build up the output from those functions and put it into a (oh hell, what was it called) marquee tag?

I'm thinking that they just posted it like that. Normally I change post titles like that folks had already responded to the thread.

Dangit, I meant the marquee tag. Although I did think all the ????? were a bit much. :)

My recommendation with any ticker is to use the PHP functions. If you are pulling news from other sites Javascript is acceptable, but why not take advantage of the crawlability of hard coded links.

On a site I prefer not to mention, I did use a sitewide feed into a news reader php, to give me the most recent updated blogs. I also had a database scan for the most recent updated blogs. There are a few powerful MU functions that can create all the links you want. But for your own sake, don't use javascript, because the crawlers will never understand those links.

Now, I am kinda lost. Exactly how would I go about doing this bradmkjr?
