You don't need .htaccess if you can have it be like the following domain, and if you can't do the .htaccess on your server check index-install.php, find the do_htaccess function and delete it and all calls to it. It will install fine, my only issue is I don't know how to set it up to use this type of link by default v

Any help would be appreciated on setting it up to use /index.php/blah instead of /blah

"Must" be hosting on a dirty windows box. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

And yes, without htaccess the files directories won't work.

If it's a "nasty little windows box", use apache or get a different box, with a more capable OS.

That's what you'd need the htaccess for. :)

It should be able to work without the .htaccess, and it's a FreeBSD with Apache installation. My host is awesome but they don't allow .htaccess because with their setup it could cause XSS since you all obviously don't know the code I'll just look in it until I find the spot that sets it

I know the code, but thanks for being a jackass.

Your "host" must not know how to set up a box, if you want to trade shots.

And, for the pot shot at the community here, I'll just skip adding the answer here. Have a nice search, and a nice day.

    Thank you, come again.

I have found the community here to be knowledgeable, responsive, and helpful. Cheers to you all. This forum has been invaluable and I continue to find what I need when I look for it. Perhaps your problem is the punctuation in front of your htaccess file?

I'm still scratching my head over the host not allowing htaccess. Never heard that one before.

Not that it matters much, but Yahoo's hosting -- even their highest package -- doesn't allow .htaccess files.

Must make it tough for their spammers when they host with Yahoo then.
