Change WPMU Directory to Root (7 posts)

I installed WPMU in a subdirectory and the blogs on subdomains. The problem is that the blogs link to name.site.com/wpmu and I would like it to be name.site.com. I know this issue has been discussed before but I would like a direct answer.

I changes the index.php and .htaccess and now you can go directly to name.site.com and enjoy the blog, but the links in the header are linking to the blog-home (ie. name.site.com/wpmu). It also happens in the admin area and in the signup page.

Is there a way to change the links to the root? I don't mind hacking inside the files, but I don't know where to start looking. Any help will do. Thanks in advance.

links aren't stored in the files, they're in the database. :)

You know, i'd almost be willing to pay someone to spend a weekend adding basic stuff to the codex...

That's really nice... But is there a coherent answer? Or is that big NO?

    Yes.

Don't install in a subdirectory. That would fix the problem.

You can hack teh files but you wind up doing a redirect of a redirect of a redirect of a redirect. (I think it's four) It's not pretty.
