How can I disable /mymuinstall/blog from showing up? I am not using it and since I modified my home template it comes all messed up.
Should I even bother?

I wouldn't bother. Just don't use it and delete any links to it.

Its messed up layout-wise because I changed the header/footer/home templates for the main page, so the blog looks not right.
I guess its not important since I dont link to it anywhere.

Download a new home template.
Put an html redirect in the header:
