I'm wondering if I should file this in Trac - There's a lot of hard-coded template-like stuff in the actual wp-signup.php file, which should probably be somehow moved outside it to enable better skinning. Is there a consensus for it?

I'd definitely love to be able to edit the signup page via a template. The fewer things that have to be tweaked via hard-coding (and thusly lost every upgrade), the better.
Strange as my signup pages are wrapped with the site template.
Not just wrapping, though - the contents. I can't change the
"Welcome back, ceejayoz. By filling out the form below, you can add another blog to your account. There is no limit to the number of blogs you can have, so create to your heart's content, but blog responsibly."
text via a template, for example, right?
for me, the template was really messed up... it made the usual narrowcolumn theme assumption which didnt work... had to modify the core file, which is not good...
Wrapped, yes. But besides that, the main in-page "template" in wp-signup just follows the default Kubrick in means of structure etc. - shouldn't that be abstracted?
