    Here is the URL
    http://lanecampbell.com/wp-login.php

    I am using my personal domain which I haven't had time to set up a site on. I am doing this in order to test this software out and so far it looks promising with its features but this error has me a bit confused.

    Fatal Error
    Database Tables Missing.
    The table zigzap1_direction::wp_site is missing. Delete the .htaccess file and run the installer again!
    Please check that your database contains the following tables:

    * wp_blogs
    * wp_users
    * wp_usermeta
    * wp_site
    * wp_sitemeta
    * wp_sitecategories

    If you suspect a problem please report it to support forums!

    Now I read (by searching the forums) that there wasn't any support for subdirectories so I deleted my database and moved the files to the root directory of my account. Now I still got the error after recreating the database and letting the installer run through...

    Well then since its been an hour I might as well clarify what I did.

    1.) Uploaded mu to domain/blogs/
    2.) Installed mu using /blogs/wp-admin/install.php
    3.) got this lovely Fatal Error when I went to login screen
    4.) moved the files from /blogs/ to / and deleted the mysql database for this test
    5.) resumed installation and then tried login screen again and got the FATAL ERROR
    6.) So no luck installing to either a subdir or the main rootdir

    Are you selecting the vhosts option or directory option when installing?

    Directory install is (for lack of a better word) borked.

    If you're setting up using the vhosts option, before you install you have to make sure you have a wildcard dns entry and a wildcard apache vhost entry. Most hosts are will to set this up for you. Some charge extra for this. If they don't know what it means, it's time to look for a new host.

    Also, if you haven't noticed, there aren't as many people here as at the main WP forums. In fact, I can probably count the regular posters on less than 2 hands. It's not unusual to have to wait a couple of days or even weeks for a reply.

    techwench,

    Thanks for the help I kinda got the impression these forums are manned by a skeleton crew but its nice to have that reaffirmed by someone.

    As for my install,

    I ran the install without setting any vhost options up, is there a link to another post explaining how to configure the installer for my setup?

    My host would probably be very unwilling to cooperate with me but then again this is a test server and my client's host would probably be much more willing to play ball. I have a test server at home on my cable modem using afraid.org for DNS, would this be a better test server since I can control every aspect of it?

    Bumping this, since I also have the same problem.

    Ok, so I know that I cannot do a directory install, and that instead, I need to set it up using vhosts. However, I can find nowhere on this site where that is explained clearly. Does anyone have a clear walkthrough on this?

    Which brings me to my second point: the documentation for WPMu is nonexistent. Why isn't there a codex like for WP? There are nightly releases, but no information on how I can contribue to the development/de-bugging. I really want to see WPMu suceed, but it won't if new people can't join in.

    Do you run your own server or do you have a hosting plan through someone?

    If you're paying for hosting through someone else, it should be as simple as telling your host you need:

    1) a wildcard dns entry for your *.yourdomain.com
    2) a wildcard apache serveralias for *.yourdomain.com

    Depending on your host, this may incur extra fees and/or static IP addresses
