    Hey guys-

I've had this up and running for a couple of months now, but waited until it was really stable to announce here. It's the main blog system for the Charleston City Paper, an alternative weekly here.

Many thanks to everyone in the forums. You're help was indispensable in getting the system working well.

As a note, please read this thread, as Site5 has changed their acceptable use policy, and one of the regulars here flat out got booted off their hosting without any warning.

    That sucks.

I just checked out their new policy:
    https://help.site5.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=83

They've got some pretty strict limitations on the number of database queries, which is pretty bad for a multi-user blog system.

I actually chose them after reading a few threads here about recommended hosts. Now I'm nervous...

Not to bust the party up, I actually kinda dig what you've got going on with your site (the time and thought into it shows), but since you specifically mentioned s5 I wouldn't want you to end up in the same boat Andrea did.

There are a few options open to you, and at least you have a heads up and can work towards something better.

IMHO, I'd recommend a getting a dedicated box. You can find decent unmanaged boxes for about $100 or so, from places like Server Beach or Soft Layer, or you could give Media Temple a try as well.

If your going to move hosts, you don't go the dedicated route, and your site gets bigger, you'll end up having to move again which isn't fun at all (even if you know what you're doing).

I always figured if I got to be that size I'd just pay somebody over at e-lance.com to get the job done. At this stage I'd rather pay more attention to the content, ease of use, and features of the site, than to expandability, but that's just me.

Slor, I love what you've done with the site. At the outset of my decision to use MU, I figured I could go one of two ways: (a) make a solid home them/ brand, but offer my users independent sites with their own themes/branding, or (b) brand the whole site, and all user blogs as one.

What you've produced here is an excellent example of how to do the latter. It's an easy to use, elegant and cohesive package that looks very polished. In short, I'd blog there :)
