As you know, there are several flavors of WordPress. There is of course WordPress Multi-User, and there's WordPress.com.

That's silly. It's WordPress. Then there's Mu. And WP.com. It's not so complicated.
In wp.com land, we have 'regular wordpress' meaning the version from wp.org, wp.com meaning the version running at wp.com, and 'wordpress multiuser' meaning the one here. (wp.com != wpmu for the most part. I'd call it a fork.)
Surprised that Donncha hasn't named the releases actually. Seems to be the 'in' thing to do with wordpress.
