Are there some clear instructions on how to install using MySQL for total beginners?

For example, how do I do the following?

Ok. Now I know mod_rewrite is installed but I've never used MySQL for setting up a wordpress blog. I've always used fantastico in cpanel. So I'm wondering if there are some instructions somewhere that would take me from start to finish like an instruction manual or something.

Have you tried clicking on the MySQL button with CPanel? It's pretty much the same as regular wordpress. All you need is an empty database:
