mu and photo gallery plugins (Lazyest Gallery) (20 posts)

I've been trying to find a good photo gallery plugin to use inside MU. (There is a severe shortage of working ones) I'm currently using Lazyest Gallery, which I like due to it's ease of use and configuration. AND it's working almost 90% or so with MU. However, enabling the cached thumbnails and slides feature doesn't work. The plugin can't seem to find the thumbnails and/or directory when called upon to create them. This means I've got these features disabled, and the thumbnail/slide creation takes place on the fly.

Has any tried, or hacked Lazyest Gallery to get it to work with MU?

    Thanks

I use the Slickr one myself, although I had to chop it up a bit in terms of how it handled caching. But it wasn't too bad.

BUT Slickr is for pics hosted on flickr while Lazy Gallery is for locally hosted pics - I guess awacht is looking for a locally hosted gallery

the only one that is made for wordpress is wpsary, search for it.

There's a lot of fixing to do on it though, it screws up a lot of theme because it uses it's own content template.

not picking on you lunabyte, just wanted to clarify.

besides there are lots of gallery plugins for wp, I just never tested any with wpmu as I don't give away that much webspace, so most bloggers use flicker / slickr combination :-)

Don't make me make Andrea pull this forum over.

Nah, it's all good. Well, unless you're and Anti-Hendrick Earnhardt Jr fan. LOL

wpsary is the only one that I've seen working. Someone was also using photozip plugin on here a while back. I asked for a copy to be made public so let's see where that go.

plogger is easy to install and themeable. it also has a decent plugin. it doesnt seem like it'd be available for all users though.

For all of you who want to use a photo album on your Wordpress Mu site, try this WPPA plugin. It was designed solely for worpress. It creates an album with thumbnail photos that enlarge once clicked on.

This is a photo plugin made for wordpress, but I have tested it in MU and it seems to work OK.
it can be downloaded from http://me.mywebsight.ws/web/wppa/#download
also you can see it in action at http://myblog.uk2uonline.info/
hope this helps the original poster.

I've been trying to figure out how to force NextGen to show images urls like http://myblog.tld/files/mygallery/image.jpg instead of
http://wp-content/blogs.dir/2/files/mygallery/image.jpg - and start acting like the normal WPMU uploads.

I've sent Alex Rabe an email about it, and maybe he'll figure it out.

The plugin works, but I'm not so sure how safe it is showing blogs.dir in the urls.

I modified mine to use /gallery/username/gallery-name/image.jpg.

That way I can keep all of the galleries in the same place, and move the storage to a mapped sans drive or something if needed.

When the link is generated, it should be like your first example though, as "technically" both links are the same. It's just the first one runs through a translation file as set by htaccess. (Just like any other uploaded image/content.)

    lunabyte:

What I'm not sure of is why the rewrite rules don't play well with this plugin, I'm aware of that the first url is the correct, however it shouldn't show up anywhere.

I found a constant in wpmu called get_option('fileupload_url') which is used in the uploads tab and when inserting images in posts and it generally says that "okay, let's pretend the url is http://yourblog.tld/files/" so I was trying to play with that to change the url to the images shown, and still let the actually upload path being UPLOADS (Just like MU handle it)

But maybe your solution is much better. What does your code look like?

I've been shooting back and forth with the plugin author, and testing their latest versions for MU compatibility. (OK, I'm supposed to be but I was out of town for a few days, and I'm playing catch up.)

If they don't chime in to this thread, I'll mention it in my next email.
