Multiple Installations on one server (7 posts)

    Hi there,

I have a dedicated server and installed WPMU on one domain. Now...I'm trying to install it on a second domain, but it keeps on redirecting to the first domain automatically.

I'm not really a Linux/Apache expert (at all). How can I make WPMU work on multiple domains on the same server?

    Please help me out.

    All the best,
    Antonie

A lot more details on how you've installed this would be helpful.

Are you using some sort of backend like cpanel or direct admin?

are the installs in seperate accounts or what?

are the databases seperate? (I hope so)

If you install them completely seperate with no interaction, it should be fine.

    Hi drmike,

    Thanks alot for your response.

    Ok...
    They are on seperate databases.
    Seperate domains as well.
    I'm using Plesk 8.1 (i think)

I think the problem is with the httpd.conf file or something. I just followed the <Directory> and <VirtualHost> instructions in the readme, using my SSH terminal.

Nothing more that I can elaborate on. Hoping that there is a way to solve this. If only I had more knowledge on Apache.

    Best,
    Antonie

    Wow...it's really freaking out.
I have many domains on this server.
Seems like it's redirecting to just about anything except the one it should be on.

Actually your method seems a round about way of implementing Mu, I can be wrong. Is there an explicit purpose for multiple Mus? You could have one Mu and host unlimied domain.tld on it and utilizing subdomains also. See here:

I think you can solve this by using regular wp and using the wp-hive.com plugin!

    I'd suggest using this: http://wpmu.org/wpmu-enterprise/

Also, if all your domains now point to the same WPMU - you have an error in wildcard DNS setup.
