Hi all - this is the first time I've posted and I'm trying to get wpmu to work but not having much luck :(

    Here's what I've done...

    1. I have a cpanel/whm shared hosting package so I have gone into the WHM and edited the DNS zone with the wildcard symbol. (this is listed as * in A xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - IP address) I haven't edited the httpd.conf file as I don't have access to it. (I;ve requested shell access and am just waiting on my host to get back to me)
    2. Since i have cPanel, I used the workaround provided to allow the installation to write it's own .htaccess file, which was successful.
    3. After installing wpmu, I then registered a test user and I now get the following problem...

whenever i go to "jordan.vinylescape.me.uk" I am simply greeted with a blank page. nothing loads or seems to load. If i then go to "vinylescape.me.uk" and click 'login' it then tries to take me to "jordan.vinylescape.me.uk/wp-login.php" .

Can anyone shed some light on this? the site is merely a testing ground for when I get the hand of installing it so I can put it on my main site so please feel free to visit the site to try and help in any way - i really appreciate it!

You need to edit the httpd.conf also. If your host is like mine and only allows jail-shell access, you'll have to have them add the apache serveralias.

Perhaps not helpful as I'm using my own server, not a hosting site, but I jumped through a few hoops to find out that while both php and mysql were installed, the php-mysql module wasn't. The minute I installed that, the page was no longer blank.

    Good luck!
