WordPress MU

Is there an easy way to have %postname% replace spaces with underscores (_) instead of hyphens (-)? I'm in the works of trying to get backwards compatibility with my previously blog platform.

For example, instead of a permalink look like "http://domain.com/the-post" have it look like "http://domain.com/the_post"?
