    I'm using wordpress mu for a community site... I'm trying to find out if there's a way to set wordpress mu up where people must login first to the community before they can comment on the blogs.

    In other words, if people navigate to a WP blog on my community, they would be able to read all comments, HOWEVER, the actual comment field would not be there ... it would say something like 'you must register' before commenting... only after people have logged into the community would the comment field be visible.

    Any suggestions (and/or examples) are appreciated, thanks.

    You can do this on a per blog basis at Dashboard -> Options -> General -> check the box labeled "Commenter must be logged in..."

    You can also do it as a default for your newly created blogs. Open up wp-admin/upgrade-schema.php and find the following line:

    add_option('comment_registration', 0);

    And change it from a zero to a one.

    Hope this helps,

    Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

    I'll pass this on to my developers.
