I have an existing site at http://mydomain.com

I created http://mydomain.com/blogs and during installation chose the subdirectory options instead of domain option, pointing it to the /blogs/ subdir.

When I go to the page I get my blog title at the top of the page, but under that its a big Error 404 - Not Found, and below that I see the search box and the headings for Pages, Archives and Categories. But the page is totally white as if no template, and when I click on any link there, it goes directly back to the actual home page of my domain website at http://mydomain.com, NOT anywhere in the /blogs/ subdir.

I notice the links point to http://mydomain.com/cgi-system/blog/ and the rest of the path to the resource, but I have not installed anything to my root domain, it should all be under /blogs/. Its not finding anything but my domain home page. Please help.

WPMU likes to be installed at the top level of the domain.

But the installation offers a subdirectory as an option, and I set it up that way. What it "likes" is how its written to behave. I just want to know, is it not possible to install in a subdirectory? Something is directing it to my top-level domain when it shouldnt. Is there a config file that I could edit? It seems the path has not been set properly and I assume I could manually edit the path somewhere?

Or is the installation instructions completely wrong, and it will only work at top-level? People need to know this. Please help in any way I can make this work.

    Thank you,

    Christian

mlon...did you read my first post? Thats the whole problem, I created and installed into my subdir as the instructions say we can, and the application ignores it for every link. Its also not loading any kind of template, only white space, and simply looks for the cgi-system path from my top level for everything. What can I edit for the application root path?
