Paypal (or other payment gateway) integration with some premium features for WPMU is like bigfoot.
People have been talking about it for eons, but I see no progress in site. It is expensive to run servers and ads are annoying. Surely someone must have released a wpmu plugin that solves this problem.
Alas, premium.wpmudev.org, said they were working on one. Has anyone heard anything?
We'll get there... it's *far* from simple though.
That's one of the reasons why I was wondering why you guys were doing it. Really seems like overkill and even wp.com seems to have a manual system in place. (You see it on teh weekends when bumpups don't go through right away. ;)
Heh - I'd hope they had it automated - if not they can always get a premium.wpmudev.org subscription down the track ;)

What's manual on wp.com?
We're hoping to begin testing the Premium plugin today or tomorrow. However, i'm sure it will be a week or two before it's released. I'm sure we'll find a few bugs once the users play with it a bit.
Thanks,
Andrew
still no updates for this?
*sigh*
Yes, this thread is SEVEN MONTHS old. The premium plugin mentioned has long since been released and is the same one I referred you to in the other thread. It works just dandy.
What do you mean you are still waiting? :) Andrea just told you that this is already developed and can be found at:
http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/Premium-Lite
Allows users to subscribe to packages that enabled extra features.
If Andrew and James haven't put anything else up, I would imagine there is a reason. Summing up, site-admin can put up functions that users can pay for (subscribe) and an interface to take payments through paypal.

That's pretty much all there is to say about it. You create plugins, add them to packages and then users can subscribe to the packages thus enabling the plugins.
From what I can tell there are about ~70 sites using it at the moment and we haven't had a single complaint.
Thanks,
Andrew
Hey folks,
I've been following this thread and will be purchasing soon, but just to clarify what andrewbillits just posted...
"You create plugins, add them to packages and then users can subscribe to the packages thus enabling the plugins."
These don't have to be plugins that I've created, correct? Am I able to choose from plugins that I have installed, even if they're from some other plugin developer?
Sorry if this sounds stupid, but I just want to make sure.
Thanks:)

You have to add a bit of code to existing plugins. There are two example plugins provided with the package.
Thanks,
Andrew
Ah ha, so there is a slight catch;) I'm sure I'm up to the task.
Thanks for the clarification, very helpful! :)

Has any put PayPal on WordPress successfully?
If you're looking for wordpress support, you're at the wrong site. You need to be over at: http://wordpress.org/support
These forums are for Wordpress multiuser, a different software.
i'm looking for something similar, but i am not interested in giving other bloggers access to more plugins; i'm looking for paying members of my site(s) to gain access to content based on if they are free members, paying members, etc.
i've found:
http://www.newmedias.co.uk/your-members-mu-partner-program/
but doesn't look like they have a version out yet for wordpress mu, yet; this is just a deal for if you want to be a beta tester for their product. are there any other plugins out there that would do what i am looking for?
or plugins for wordpress that would work with mu as well?
Why not ask them about a mu plugin for their product?
"this is just a deal for if you want to be a beta tester for their product. "
Did you notice their "deal" is like ten times the regular cost? Why would I pay them extra to help them code & test a WPMU version?
They really have a nice product... I've been stalking it for some time now... but I totally agree with Andrea here. I mean it is really... I won't use those words here... that you have to pay them to help them.

I have been researching this possible plugin for quite a while now and think i may have found a solution
see my thread
http://mu.wordpress.org/forums/topic.php?id=10540
for more info.
ps. this link -http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/Premium-Lite returns a 404. are people aware of this?
It was replaced by this :)

I wouldn't be surprised to see a lit more 'pay per blog' features over at Premium in 2009!
