You have to activate any newly uploaded themes in the Site Admin before users of other blogs can use new themes.

Ok I changed the template for each new blog, that was Easy, takes about 1 minute, go to templates...........Change the name of the folder called default..........to something else

then I simply found a nice template I liked, and changed the name of that folder to...........default

    Voila

My question is, do all the new blogs have go go through a similar process in order to change the template on the new blog? Or is there a select button for template for a new blog in the admin panel

Found my own answer by searching the posts

"Upload the theme and make sure it is not enabled in Site Admin -> Themes. Go to Site Admin --> Blogs and click Edit for the blog you want to enable the theme for. In the top right corner you'll see a list of all the themes that are not universally available. Check the box and save it."
