On the site http://www.bcalaw.us I am using the Modern 0.9 template. I would like to have an image placed centrally in the background under the main text area, have tried with several methods, but nothing appears. The image is placed at http://www.bcalaw.us/images/vitruvian02.jpg.
Does anyone know where to place what to make this work?

Check that in the stylesheet, make sure all the elements in front of it are transparent and don't have a background color. It's also inheriting the body color.
Are you using Firefox? If so, get the webdeveloper extension and Firebug. With both, I found what you needed in less than a couple minutes.
Also, this is really more a general theme question and should've been in the regular forums. :) There's more people over there too.

You may wish to consider getting some books and HTML and CSS.
