hi gserafini,
nice entry you have here. Yesterday I made up my mind to write some kind of FAQ for WPMU as I have been struggling for a week to get it set up, I found a lot of posts all suggesting different solutions but neither one did specify for which version the fix was meant.
would you mind contacting me at o-v-i (at) gmx.de so we can talk?
what I was thinking of is this: I am no coder, but I am eagerly testing and I already have found a bunch of themes that are working with this wpmu version which we could name and/or make available for download.
Also I tested a big number of plugins and habe quite a bunch of them working, we could explain which ones work globally (from mu-plugins) and which ones work on a per user basis (from plugins) and which ones needed to be adapted (I've had some of those too).
I think this kind of faq is badly needed, and I wanted to do it anyway to show on my homepage where ppl. sign up for their blogs so they can read it.
What do you think? Are you intereste in this? As english is not my maternal language one of us could write a portion, the other one could correct and add info etc.
I think all would benefit and we could both post it on our sites. Btw. what I am trying to set up is a free blogging platform for Romanian users, although the main language of the page will be english.
regards
Ovidiu
Yep, that worked for me. thanks.
This was one of the problems i've had since the beginning of installing wpmu. 1) the images just showing as numbers and 2) comments not working if the commenter was not logged in. This .htaccess fix seems to ahve done the trick for me. thanks again
Now, what about users not receiving notification whe they register? Again, it looks like a Vh problem.
cheers.
Slight bug i think with the above fix (only slight)
the image now uploads fine and can now be seen in the blog entry. However, the link that is imbedded in the image now has an extra slash which gives an error it it's clicked. The url for the image is now something like:
http://user.blogsite.com//?attachment_id=3
instead of/;
http://user.blogsite.com/?attachment_id=3
Obviously this is another .htaccess issue but i'm wondering if there is another quick fix?
thanks
I had seen that issue as well. I'll try to look into it tonight, although I suspect it may not be a .htaccess issue in this case.
Will update if I find a solution for that.
I have the same issue but with me it displays the files fine even with "//"
I have the same issue only it resets my wpmu-settings.php file, or attempts to, since i've chmodded it....
oops, sorry for my post.
it works in firefox but not in IE ?
strange behaviour, just test for yourself:
Now my images work.
However the links are not working.
It is showing as:
http://blog.mydomain.comblogname/files/2005/12/Fromthetap.jpg
Instead of:
http://blog.mydomain.com/blogname/files/2005/12/Fromthetap.jpg
Anyone else see this?
ideas?
Ovidiu do you have the romanian POT file for WP-MU? If you have it can you upload it somewhere so I can have it too?
Thanks.
I got it from here: http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language
there is a link to here: http://www.kennomedia.com/wp/ro.mo
Thanks so much Ovi!
