WordPress MU

Hi I came across this spam stopper logic http://mnogo.truden.com/archives/151.html

it needs hacking of

wp-comments-post.php

wp-login.php

But the question: can it be used for MU and if so can it be done globally for all blogs?

Considering that most spam is actually trackbacks, probably not. This looks like it deals with comments.
