Hi I installed WPMU 1.3, and no plugins are showing and the plugins are activated through the admin panel etc

Now I keep seeing guys say, do not install the plugins in
mu-plugins, just install them in the standard plugins directory

there is no standard plugins directory when I install it, only mu-plugins
where is this standard plugins directory.

I noticed when I tried to download a new copy of 1.3, on this page

    http://trac.mu.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.3

If you click on the folders the wp-content folder shows inside it..........plugins folder and mu-plugins folder

Yet when you download the zip, plugins folder disappears

If you click on the wp-content folder in that page I just showed you it goes to this page

    http://trac.mu.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.3/wp-content

that page shows a plugins folder, as if it is in the download

Yet if you look to the right of the plugins folder, it says.......... donncha: Removed plugins, moved doc_referers.php.

does this mean that the plugins folder was removed from WPMU version 1.3

Then just make a plugins directory and put plugins in it.

You can just do that yourself? and it will work? Sounds too simple.

Thats amazing, I did what you said, just inserted my own plugins directory and boom the plugins show up now, how simple

wonder why all the 3.1 WPMU downloads removed the plugins directory

Chances are that trac doesn't add the folder to the generated archive because the folder is empty.

People usually install the release download on the main site not straight from source control.

    Yep.

"People usually install the release download on the main site not straight from source control. "

Unless they want the absolute latest version. The download link is, at this point, probably a couple of months old. (I'd have to check.)
