Why does WPMU allow users to create an unlimited number of blogs? Does this not leave WPMU open to abuse?

Suggestion is to add a 'Number of Blogs per user' option in the Site Admin.

This could be bypassed by people getting multipule accounts.

    ^^^ with multiple email addresses...

You can easily limit the number of blogs with a hook into the sign-up process, where you check if a user is logged in, and if so you check the number of blogs they already have, and the proceed however you need based on the results.

Slightly different environment here compared to a public site as I authenticate all my bloggers against an institutional LDAP.

I use LDAP plugin so only students who exist in the record can log in. (Which stops the multiple address problem). During the 1st log in a local account is created with their Name and Email inserted in the table.

So I'm thinking the answer would be to insert the hook in the 'New Blog' process. Anybody interesting in helping out here, I will give it a go, but my skills are not so hot...

Would be useful for anyone using WPMU in education...
