WordPress MU

Im sure this is dumb question to most of you, but Im confused on where the plugins pop up once you up load them to the mu-plugins folder? I enabled plugins on the site admin > options page .... but the plugins only pop up if I load them in the plugins folder under the plugins menu. Anyone have ideas?

They just show up, as if they are already activated. They do not show up under the plugins tab.

99% of plugins should be in the normal plugins directory. MU plugins is an auto-execute directory, that loads all files in that directory on every page load.
