I have everything setup and when a user creates a new blog it says it's doing xxxxx.blogsite.com .. but when it creates the site and sends the email the link is to http://www.blogsite.com/xxxxx ...
How can I have it the first way?

Have you chosen not to install it in the "virtual host" mode ??
Alas, there are some incosistencies here, but if you choose the "virtual host" mode, you will not notice it.
