I want to change the users admin area so they dont' see all of the word press news etc.. is there a plugin to do this - I don't want to touch any of the base files and I can't see how I can modify this via a theme.

    Thanks for your help.

that's the user dashboard - it's not theme-related at all because it's in the backend.

    This plugin:
    http://wpmudevorg.wordpress.com/project/Simple-Dashboard-Feeds

replaces those feeds and also the footer if you want.

It would be nice to have something that can be managed indeed form the admin panel directly for this.

A WYSIWYG for this page would be great ofcourse !

    Try this plugin - http://wpmu.openstory.ru/2008/01/21/funkcionalnaya-doska-obyavlenij-s-rss-agregatorom/
It gives for you (and for your all users) RSS-argegator and admin widgets (blocks). If you a little know PHP, you can write own admin widgets (blocks)

The above plugin is really great.

Now it would be nice if the settings that we make as an admin are also applied to the dashboard of a blogowner.

So we as admins are in charge.

Of course we can make block that we only allow them to enable so they can control it a little bit on their own.

Fully in charge would be nice.

The dashboard has hooks in it already so you can whip up a plugin to replace it globally with whatever you like.
