Cache directory size: what to expect (3 posts)

    Hello,

    I am running WPMu 1.3 and have about 130 active blogs, many of which have minimum activity (a few posts a week), while others are fairly active and get decent traffic.

    This morning I enabled object caching in my wp-config.php file (and created a writable /cache/ directory in my content folder) in the hopes of speeding up the page load times of our blogs.

    The cache directory is already up to 12MB and growing by the minute, with many new directories and files, which makes me a bit nervous. I'm still learning about caching so I was hoping to find out if this is to be expected and should I keep an eye on the size of this directory.

    [~/public_html/wp-content]# du -ks cache | awk '{print ($1 /1024)'}
    12.0078

    Thanks much in advance.

    I tried measuring mine via ftp but it was taking too long. They do get large though.
