How to rename /wpmu to /blog (10 posts)

After I installed WPMU, the URL of a blog is "http://blog1.mydomain.com/wpmu/". Is there a way to rename "/wpmu/" without messing upthe site? Or I have to re-install the whole thing?

    Thanks

the "easiest" way is to just wipe and reinstall. However it *can* be done manually if you are comfortable with changing a few rows in your database. :)

I also noticed that .htaccess file has the reference to the name. So I guess I just reinstall it though I am comfortable changing the database.

    Thanks

Before you go through a re-install or start chaninging your db, did you install into a directory named wpmu, or did you install at root? This will affect what you can do to change what you want to change.

I installed it under /public_html/wpmu/ directory.

    Thanks

Go with Andrew's suggestion and re-install it, but make sure you install it into /public_html/blog (or whatever you want the folder to be) or you will end up with the same problem.

    Thanks for the reply.
I have another related question. When I register a blog at wordpress.com, my blog URL will be "http://myblog.wordpress.com", instead of "http://myblog.wordpress.com/WPMU/" in my case. Is this because they installed directly under the web root or somthing else?

    Please advise. Thanks.
