    Hi.

I am trying to install this as a site, in other otherwords i renamed the files public_html to upload straight to my server.
I have upload all files and gone to my url to install but when i go to delete the .htaccess file it automatically makes a new blank one. When i refresh the install page, it keeps saying:

A file with the name '.htaccess' already exists in this directory and I cannot write to it. Please ftp to the server and delete this file from this directory!
    Offending file: /home/ourblog/public_html/.htaccess

    How can i stop this?

    Regards

    Steve

"Please ftp to the server and delete this file from this directory!"

You;re on cpanel. It will keep sticking it there *unless* you go in thru ftp, delete the htacces and then immediately run the install.

Well the error message up there says it's set to 644, not 777.

    - Upload the software, setup up the wildcards and databases, and get everything ready.
    - Log out of Cpanel.
    - FTP into your site.
    - Delete .htaccess via ftp.
    - Do not log back into CPanel.
    - Run the wpmu install.
