When WordPress updates and issues patches, does MU do the same thing?

Thanks. But, I'm not looking for the actual updates. I just want to know if it's the goal of WPMU developers to always issue the same updates/patches as WP, because I use both of them.

Nope, they're going to leave it about 15 versions behind for spite.

If you check the resource provided, you can see what and when it is merged.

Like... Merge with WP 7985, or similar.

Mu's trac follows WP's trac, and is merged fairly often to keep in sync.

The actual public release usually follows some time afterwards though. This allows folks to test the code as it is different from the regular wordpress code.
