Hi all,
i am setting up a custom theme for my site but this is my first time. my site is http://ourlordsblogs.com i want to be able to list the latest blogs under the welcome text and have a search box on the top right next to the navigation.
I can not find out how i do this. I have seen a plugin for latest posts but do not understand the instructions on it.
can anyone help?

The plugin you've seen will do the trick in listing the latest blogs, and if you don't understand the instructions, I would suggest re-reading them, and asking more specific questions.
As far as a search box with WordPress, you can find more information on that here...

You may want to use a different theme that includes the basic structure you want and then start editing the colors, etc. to match your vision.
