How to insert links and code into all blog sidebars and footers (5 posts)

There are two things that I can't figure out how to do and I can't find the answers in the forum.

1- How do I edit the content and links for all blogs? I'd like the footers and sidebars for all blogs to be created with a (non-user-editable) link in the footer and adsense on the sidebar.

2- how to I change the permalink structure globally for all blogs created? In WP you can do that in the options page but where in MU? I'd like this type of structure:
    /%category%/%postname%/

    Thanks for your help!

Edit footer.php and sidebar.php to your liking. :)

Yeah, that would seem to be the logical answer but I've edited every one of those files that I can find and I can't get it to change *all* blogs. Sorry I should have mentioned that.

What is the exact path to the specific sidebar and footer files to which you refer? There are lots of those files in different folders.

    In wp-admin I've tried sidebar.php and admin-footer.php...no dice

    In wp-content>themes>default>sidebar.php...no dice

    In wp-content>themes>default>home>sidebar.php

I can't find any sidebar.php or footer.php file that controls ALL of the blogs.

I've tried working in the wpmu-function.php and most of the template-functions-*.php too but have had no luck.

In wp-content>themes> You can edit each theme one at a time but of course none of these files controls all of the themes. If I'm going to offer 50 themes do I have to edit each one individually? Yikes I hope not! :-)

I can't find any sidebar.php or footer.php file that controls ALL of the blogs.

...because there are none. Right, you'll have to edit every theme that you provide to your users.

or put includes in every theme's footer.php and sidebar.php to a central file.
