WordPress MU

/wpmu/ can't select database
is this a temp. problem
im not sure what to do with the wp.config-sample.php

i geuss i should try setting up vhost
this is on mysql

WPMU creates the config file when you install.

I am trying to install wpmu under /public_html/blog/ (new dir "blog" has all unzipped files). On the install page, I entered db name, user id, pwd, etc.. After I clicked Submit button, the next page says It Can't Select DB. But the DB is in place in the format of "username_wordpress".

Please advise.

i have the same problem for 3 days now

cant select database

I did a search by "select database" and found following post. It sounds helpful and I will try it tonight.

I think we have to explicitly add the admin account to the newly created database.

Just for your reference.

You have to add a global user to the database when you set it up, but it is not the same as the main admin person for WPMU (of course, you could call it the same but that would be unwise). Just for clarity. :)

What permissions for this global user in order for wpmu installation to complete?

Just read through all the posts of this thread.
Basically, after you create the new database, you need to add to the database the user account that you entered on the installation page. The problem for me was that I missed the step of adding this user account to the database.
