WordPress MU

I currently have a blog that is built on Wordpress 2.5.1, I want to add a function to allow members to have their own blog on my domain, i.e., member.mydomain.com

Can I just add MU to my existing install, or do I need to drop what I currently have and start over with MU?

This has probably been answered many times before, but I couldn't find a clear answer.

You need to start over, but you can either export your current blog and import using the backend tools or copy over post/taxonomy database tables to your new db.
